2009 Children's Christmas Gifting

This year’s first Children’s Christmas Gifting – or GIVING PARTY – was a huge success. You can certainly tell that by the expressions on the children AND the adult’s faces in these pictures. We had a wonderful time both in preparing for it, collecting gifts, decorating for the event and turning our hallway and Barber Christian Life Center in to a candy land wonderland and THEN – welcoming one-hundred thirty children from the Boys and Girls Club to shop, shop, shop! It was the most wonderful way to welcome Christmas in our church and hearts!

One child said he wished he could live here. Another said she was so excited – she had never been able to give her mom a Christmas gift before. One little boy almost missed the bus back to the club because he was so enthralled with the Advent play set over at the Arts and Crafts Area.

We couldn’t have done this without the extravagant spirit of love and generosity of our church family and that of others such as Belk, The Flat Rock Play House and the Kenmure Community. THANK YOU.

We hope to make it even bigger next year so please – we welcome your donations. You may begin bringing in your Christmas shopping bags and those special new or like-new gifts that would be a special gift to someone else! The next event is already scheduled: mark your calendars for December 8, 2010 – don’t miss out on the blessing of being a part this year!
